The Adromischus maculatus is a low-growing succulent that forms small clusters that look like mats to many. As the stem is only 15 cm (6 inches) long, it can be easily recognized by growers. Notice the glossy, gray-green to grayish-brown color, often changing depending on the sunlight. As the plant begins its life, you can expect no spots to be on the plant, but as it grows to wait for the brown spots to appear. When it flowers, you can expect tubular and pale yellowish-green flowers.

How To propagate Adromischus maculatus?

Propagating the Adromischus maculatus, also known as ‘Calico Hearts,’ is easy. First, you need to select a healthy leaf that is firm to the touch. Next, you should remove the leaf from the main plant by twisting the leave off the stem. Make sure that you don’t accidentally leave any of the leaves on the stem. If you accidentally take some of the stems with you when separating the leaf from the stem, that is fine. Don’t panic.

The next step is to leave the leaf to be callous for the next few days before placing it in a well-draining soil (See Guide). It should only be watered when you know the soil has dried entirely at the bottom. After you notice the roots and rosette have started appearing, make sure to plant your new Adromischus maculatus where ever it can get enough sunlight.

Planting the Adromischus maculatus

Make sure that you plant your Adromischus maculatus in a well-lit environment so that it can get all the light it needs to grow. It should be placed in temperatures suitable for the plant (See Plant Guide). If you want to plant your propagated leaf indoor, make sure that it gets at least six hours of sunlight per day.
